Summer Round Up
It’s been a busy summer. And while I haven’t been able to put out so much music in the past months, I have been occupied with some fun projects. Below are some of the fruits of my labor.
New York Craft Beer Week Short
Brought to you from my friends at Dakoit Pictures. I scored the music for this thiller-esque, trailer-style short/commercial and had a little too much fun. There are guest appearances by some real brewmasters who are involved in the festival. Check out Dakoit Pictures’ summary of the short for details. NY Craft Beer Week will be held September 24th-October 3rd.
Written and Directed by Rick Ring. Produced by Vinay Chowdhry. Shot and edited by Zachary Ludescher.
Black Februrary
I am very excited to have completed work on my first feature length film as a sound designer and mixer. Here’s an official summary from BlackFeb.com:
Black February chronicles an unprecedented series of concerts performed in New York City by legendary jazz composer and conductor Lawrence D. ‘Butch’ Morris. Butch put on the series in February 2005 to celebrate 20 years of Conduction, his revolutionary technique for leading live improvisations. This documentary is much more than a simple portrait of those 28 days or a biography of an enigmatic and complex legend of the avant-garde. It’s a film about how music is made and what it means. It’s about the struggle of artists trying to distill the purest essence of themselves into their work, and the scope of a musical theory that has the potential of redefining what it means to make music.
The work is by filmmaker and journalist Vipal Monga, who has done an incredible job telling a larger story about Butch through Black February 2005. It was an intense project (partly because of the New York heat) but nonetheless extremely rewarding. Below is a trailer for the film. Stay tuned for screening dates.
